President Trump’s election and ascent into the White House have been plagued with rumor, scandal, and overall ‘shenanigans’ to a fault. Masterfully dodging all responsibility and connection to said shenanigans have kept this administration intact— no matter how many loose threads are holding it together.
The latest thread being his former lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen being charged with eight felony charges, including violating campaign finance laws. Cohen also facilitated the payment of hush money to former porn actress Stormy Daniels, $130,000 to be exact. President Trump, according to Cohen, was privy to the transaction during his run for presidential office.
Although Cohen did not name drop during his court proceedings, the dates and monetary amounts coincide with Stormy Daniels account of the transaction in question. On top of the payment to Daniels, Cohen also made a $150,000 payment to former Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal. Within the same hour, Paul Manafort, Trump’s former campaign chair was also found guilty on several federal charges.
Two seemingly essential threads in Trump’s administration have unraveled in the most simultaneous and disastrous way possible. So, what happens next; an indictment, impeachment perhaps? Will this be the straw that breaks this administration’s back? Given the track record of what seems like an infinite list of ‘shenanigans,’ we wouldn’t be surprised if he dodges his way out of this one. But that attitude won’t stop us from looking on as if this were; I don’t know… a reality television show.
