It was standing room only this past Friday as close to 300 guests filled the room to capacity at the Citrus Club for RYSE Magazine’s Men on the RYSE cover unveiling and magazine release. As Publisher J. Jackson Sr. unveiled their new issue, it was clear to see that RYSE Magazine has more than captured the attention of Orlando’s power players, entrepreneurs and next generation of leaders on the rise.
The event represented Central Florida’s spectrum of diversity as an array of business and community leaders, political figures and entrepreneurs from various ages, races and nationalities came to celebrate men who are making an impact within our community.
Publisher J. Jackson unveiled the new cover, which featured Derek Lewis, Senior Vice President & General Manager for Pepsi North America, Ron Oats, CEO of the Boy Scouts Central Florida Council, Robert Utsey, Senior Vice President for Florida and Georgia for Skanska USA, Tony Coley, Regional President of BB&T Bank and Rich Guidotti, Vice President and General Manager for Greater Florida for AT&T.
The event itself served as a virtual men’s playground with a host of activities and amenities for the guest to participate in including golfing activities, chair massages, shoe shining, cigar displays and even a custom tailor onsite, displaying a wide array of tailored suits.
In addition to the men featured on the cover, the issue also featured notable names like Mark Russell, Editor in Chief of the Orlando Sentinel and Tony Jenkins, Market President for Florida Blue, as well as other prominent individuals within our community.
A very emotional part of the evening came as Jackson delivered an inspiring speech on why he launched RYSE and the significance of its existence.”In this day and time, there is too much emphasis placed on celebrating non sense. It is sad that as people dumb down, they are elevated within the media. RYSE is about celebrating those who aspire to be in what W.E.B De Bois called ”TheTalentedTenth”, who consistently rise above the status quo.”
Pepsi’s Senior Vice President and General Manager for North America Derek Lewis stated: “I am extremely excited about the partnership between RYSE and Pepsi. We look forward to working with RYSE on future endeavors.”
Sponsors for the evening included the Citrus Club serving as the Host Sponsor, presenting sponsor BB&T Bank, TD Bank, The Copa Grooming Lounge, and Sir Dudley’s Custom Clothier, along with a list of service providers for the evening.
Next on RYSE’s agenda is their 2nd Annual Women on the RYSE Honors event, in which they will be honoring several of Central Florida’s top female business and community leaders. “Our first Women on the RYSE event gave us the stamp of approval in the community. It was a first class event, in which people walked away inspired and motivated to achieve their own success, therefore I am pleased that it is that time again,” states Jackson.
Scheduled for June 1st, this year’s event will be held at the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, which served as the host for the inaugural event. Be sure to stay connected with RYSEmagazine.com for more updates on the event!
