POWER COUPLE: Viola Davis and husband Julius Tennon snag first-look deal with Amazon

The couple runs JuVee Productions together.

Viola Davis just scored another big win along with her husband, Julius Tennon.

The Oscar-winning actress who is currently starring in Steve McQueen‘s latest film, WIDOWS, and her hubby just inked a first-look feature production deal with Amazon Studios.

“Amazon Studios is passionate about building a home for both new and established filmmakers of all backgrounds, who share the same vision in telling incredible and engaging human stories,” Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, said in a statement. “Viola and Julius Tennon’s JuVee Productions brings distinctive, fresh voices and high-quality content to our customers in both theaters and on Prime Video.”

The power couple weighed in on the news as well.

“JuVee Productions is beyond excited about our new relationship with Amazon Studios. We share the same vision of creating a vast and rich array of narratives that are inclusive and reflective of our world,” Viola Davis and Julius Tennon said in a statement.

“We started this company with a fierce commitment to integrity and the encouragement of emerging and/or established artists who have the courage and talent to be disruptors. We are thrilled that we can continue to share our vision on a global scale alongside Amazon Studios. It is our legacy.”

JuVee Productions has signed on to partner with Steph Curry to executive produce a documentary about the 2015 Charleston church massacre that left nine people dead at the hands of 21-year-old white supremacist, Dylann Roof.

According to reportsEmanuel will feature interviews with survivors of the shooting as well as family members of the victims. It was made in partnership with the city of Charleston as well as the victims’ families and will highlight the healing power of forgiveness.

“June 17, 2015, served as a stark reminder of the power of racism. That evening, a routine bible study at Emanuel Church was a soft target based solely on the racial profile of the congregation. We, along with the country, grieved each family’s loss. Yet, miraculously, from this devastation, we witnessed tremendous benchmarks of humanity. The survivors found the courage to love in the face of hate. JuVee is proud to be a part of this healing and truth-telling along with Unanimous Media, Brian Ivie, and John Shepherd,” Davis and Tennon said in a statement.
