Plastic surgeon Michael Salzhauer, also known as Dr. Miami, is known for uploading his surgeries through Instagram and now Snapchat. After realizing that Instagram deleted his account for the explicit and raw content he posted, his 15 year old daughter turned the discouraged doctor to the world of Snapchat. Ever since, his audience has sky rocketed eager to view his procedures. From tummy tucks to Brazilian butt lifts, Dr. Miami documents it all in a fun, charismatic environment. The energy flowing through his office along with the medical information spilled into each surgery is what makes his audience appeal to his social media outlet.
Nominated Snapchatter of the Year against DJ Khaled and Kylie Jenner, it is apparent that Dr. Miami is doing something right. The question has been raised about what law suits he would be facing if a procedure were to go down hill after being aired. Critics have second guessed Dr. Miami and this normalization of plastic surgery by posting these patients on Snapchat, however, the worst has not yet occurred. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, there has been 1.7 million cosmetic surgical procedures performed in 2015 and the number just keeps on increasing. People are becoming more open about paying top dollar for beauty enhancement and reconstruction.
Well-known figures and celebrities aren’t the only ones going under the knife, and they aren’t hiding it either. In most cases, these individuals want their operations streaming throughout the entire process. Dr. Miami explains, “I don’t just put anyone on Snapchat, you have to sign a pretty rigorous consent form before we do Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat or anything. Some people come here because they want to be on Snapchat. They ask to me to shout out to their friends and play certain music.” By being consistent with his posts, it has impacted the growth of his clientele heavily to grow.
Dr. Miami is booked for appointments and consultations up until August of 2017. If you were planning on booking with Bay Harbor Islands Dr. Miami, then you are out of luck!
