The legendary hip-hop artist turned entrepreneur Ice Cube, has always been known as a trailblazer. He was an original member of the legendary group NWA and later went on to have an extremely successful solo career.
He remains one of the most prolific songwriters in hip-hop history, he has made his way from the rough streets of Compton, California, all the way through an industry ripe with challenges and pitfalls. Unlike many of his peers, he learned that business requires focus and knowledge and began to teach himself the business side of the entertainment industry.
“Cube” as he’s affectionately known in the industry, has owned his own label and mentored artists, along with his own movie production company; and has produced classic films year after year.
Surprisingly, throughout his career, been involved in mentoring kids and supporting charities that focus on the education of children. Recently he has put his entrepreneurship and leadership to work creating a clothing line that will support children with autism. Autism is a developmental disability that can hinder social and mental development, it is estimated by the CDC that 1 of 68 children in the U.S. are on the autism spectrum.
One of Ice Cube’s most memorable songs; “Today Was A Good Day” is being used as the basis to create a clothing line. The song itself was named one of the top 100 songs in music history, songs like these have led him to be known as one of the top 50 greatest MC’s of all time.
He is using his economic prowess and fame to help children with autism.Inspired by his nephew, he’s partnered with the company “Represent” to create a clothing line based on his famous song. The proceeds will go to Autism Speaks, the timing is perfect considering next month is Autism Awareness month, which runs from April 1st to April 30th, and one of the most highlighted days in that month is April 2nd, known as World Autism Awareness Day.
