Nicole Bennett’s husband Deonta unexpectedly passed away just two months before the birth of their second child. The Jackson, Mississippi resident hopes to give her children a priceless gift with her maternity photo shoot incorporating images of her late husband.
It was Deonta’s idea to have the photo shoot done with Nicole and their four year old son Landen before her due date March 25. “It’s memories for my son of his father and for my daughter who will never meet her father, it’s memories for her as well,” Bennett said.
Bennett commissioned photographer Sidney Conley for the project and shot the photographs in late February. Conley photographed Bennett and her son and then digitally added images of Deonta, finding himself brought to tears by the effect. “Just how I edited [the photos] with him looking down on them, it’s showing that he’s making sure they’re okay,” Conley said of the experience.
Bennett, reminded of the man who made everyone laugh at their engagement photo shoot, thought the photos were perfect. The photos have been shared over 100,000 times on Conley’s Facebook page. What a memorable way to honor your family!
